CALGARY -- A defensive back with the Calgary Stampeders has been charged with two counts of assault after an incident outside Cowboys Casino. Police allege that Quincy Butler hit a taxi driver several times after being asked to pay a deposit before a trip. They also allege that Butler head-butted and punched a much smaller man who tried to intervene to help the cab driver. Police allege the incident happened at 3 a.m. Thursday morning. The taxi driver was transported to hospital by ambulance while the smaller man did not appear to suffer any injuries. Butler, 30, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 26. Officials with the Calgary Stampeders say they have launched an internal investigation into the allegations.
